Who we recommend each season for

May and June — our top pick

For us at Casa Ambra, May and June are the golden months. The beaches begin to come alive, the water warms up, restaurants and attractions are all open, and the village is not yet overwhelmed by summer crowds. Accommodation prices are still reasonable.

July and August — for those who love peak summer

If you want the full summer atmosphere — lively beaches, evening markets, events, music — July and August are irresistible. The key is to organise in advance: book the castle first thing in the morning, arrive at beaches as they open, and reserve restaurants a few days ahead.

September — the secret of seasoned travellers

September is perhaps the most underrated month. The lake is warm (25°C), the light is golden, there are fewer people, and many restaurants and hotels offer end-of-season prices. Perfect for a quality adult holiday.

Winter — for spa and romance

A winter weekend in Sirmione, with the Aquaria Spa and the castle almost to yourself, is an experience those who've lived it never forget. The misty lake-mirror, the silence of the village, seasonal cuisine: it is a different Sirmione, but equally wonderful.
